Mechanical Engineer
David Schoon is a mechanical engineer at Boston Device focusing on electromechanical design, technology commercialization and production transfer. Schoon has experience in the development of a temperature-controlled automated pathogen detection system for public areas, a motorized rope ascending device for military applications, minimally-invasive biopsy devices, and a controlled-environment shipping system for sensitive military equipment. He has extensive experience developing robust electromechanical systems, engineering for cost reduction, design for manufacturing and assembly, and plastic part development. Schoon is a self taught machinist and takes a hands-on approach to prototyping and testing.
Prior to joining Boston Device Development, Schoon was a project engineer at Datum3D. He holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
